When you hear of a sweet health product, you may think it's not possible since the term “sweet” usually suggests lots of added sugar. However, this doesn't always have to be the case. Recently, I have had the opportunity to try out some sweet and unique health products.

From drinks to shakes to candy, and even dental floss, you can satisfy your sweet tooth with these products that have a sweet flavor profile without much, if any, added sugar. Each product has been personally tested by Lighttrack Nutrition for flavor and texture so you can feel confident buying it to try for yourself. Read below to learn more about these products that can enhance your healthy lifestyle in delicious ways today.

Tropical Whey Protein Isolate Juice

If you enjoy the taste of chilled fruit juice, but are trying to cut back on sugar intake, then Myvegan Clear Vegan Protein whey protein juice option is for you. In flavors like Pear Ginger and Tropical Mango, this juice provides a tropical flavor profile while giving you 10 grams of protein with 0 grams sugar per serving. Other flavors include strawberry, blood orange, lemon and lime, to name a few.

From my experience sampling this product, it tastes best mixed with ten ounces of water and mixed in an electric blender so all the powder can dissolve properly. The tropical mango has a tart taste, while the pear ginger has a perfumy flavor profile.

Pea Protein Mint Chocolate Protein Powder

Myvegan also has a whey protein powder. At 22 grams protein and 0 grams sugar per scoop, this is a good vegan protein powder option made from pea protein powder. Like the clear protein powder this company carries, it is also sweetened with stevia and monk fruit powder.

I was able to sample the chocolate mint flavor. With eight ounces of water manually mixed in, it has a grainy texture, but good flavor. I think it would taste better prepared with milk in a blender to add flavor and improve texture.

Lindt Oatmilk Classic Recipe Chocolate Bars

As someone who is lactose intolerant, but a chocolate lover, it's hard to find tasty chocolate candies that are easy for me to tolerate. I am so grateful for Lindt Chocolatiers for releasing their Oatmilk Classic Chocolate bars in Original and Salted Caramel Flavors. Lower in fat and sugar than their dairy-containing counterpart, these chocolate bars provide the creamy texture of chocolate with 13 grams sugar per 30 grams (most dairy-containing chocolate bars have about 16 grams sugar per 30 grams). And as a bonus, those of us who live a dairy-free lifestyle can enjoy the chocolate flavor we love without worry of digestive discomfort.

A2 Hershey's Chocolate Milk Singles

You may be familiar with A2 milk products already. But if you're like me and have never tried them before, they are basically your typical cow's milk beverage that contains only the A2 protein versus a combination of A1 and A2 protein like standard cow's milk. Research shows that such A2 milk is easier on digestion for most people.

Their newest product is Hershey's A2 milk singles. Each single milk serving contains 5 grams fat, 8 grams protein, and 21 grams sugar per 8-ounce serving. It is important to note that a typical cup of 2% milk contains 12 grams of natural sugar, so this product only contains 9 grams of added sugar from the chocolate flavoring.

It's also important to note that this product does contain lactose though, so is not recommended for those that have lactose intolerance unless you take a lactase enzyme pill or chewable during intake. For this reason, I had my husband try this product out for me, and he says it was delicious. I take his word for it since he has been a wonderful taste tester for many of my recipes over the years!

Frost Oral Care Chocolate MIlk Flossers

When you think of dental products, mint is likely the first flavor that comes to mind. But I recently was able to try Frost Oral Care's chocolate milk flossers to add some fun flavor to my daily oral hygiene routine. These vegan, fluoride-free flossers are designed for kids, but can provide a fun addition to the dental routine for people of all ages.

I found that flossing my teeth first with these flossers before brushing my teeth with peppermint toothpaste gave me a very subtle mint chocolate taste in my mouth that reminded me of my favorite flavor of ice cream. Yummy!

Other Sweet and Healthy Treats

Besides the products listed above, there are many ways to enjoy the sweet flavor without added sugar. Use the tips below to create delicious treats any time of the week:

  • Slice up a banana and drizzle with chocolate syrup for a decadent, fiber-rich dessert option.

  • Enjoy a teaspoon or two of honey and 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract to plain Greek yogurt or plain plant-based yogurt for a naturally sweet treat.

  • Sprinkle sliced and peeled apples with cinnamon and cook in a pan with your favorite butter or plant-based butter product on low to medium heat for about 15 minutes, stirring every minute or so until apples are tender.

  • Slice a cup or more of strawberries. Sprinkle a couple of teaspoons of sugar and lemon juice per cup of sliced strawberries for the best taste. Toss strawberries in sugar and lemon juice and add to a pan on your stovetop. Cook on low to medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently until strawberries start to create a sauce-like texture. Enjoy alone or on top of your favorite unsweetened yogurt or frozen yogurt for a fruity and delicious dessert.
