As the cool autumn breeze blows, you may crave more stick-to-your-ribs-type foods and piping hot beverages. However, a lot of these foods and drinks are typically high in sugar and fat, while being low in nutrients. This isn't necessarily an unhealthy thing in moderation, but if you consume these items often, it can sabotage your healthy lifestyle efforts. Therefore, read below to learn about some dietitian-tested healthy food products that you can add to your lifestyle that will satisfy your appetite while nourishing your body.
Three Trees Organics Milk
This creamy plant-based milk product is so rich and delicious, you'll think you're indulging. I especially like the Oat and Seed Oat milk which goes great with cereals and oatmeal. It contains 3 grams of fiber and 6 grams of protein and only 4 grams of sugar per approximate 8-ounce serving. This milk also contains flax, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds that provide omega-3, vitamin E, and magnesium.
Then there's the Black Sesame Almondmilk, which may have an intimidating grey hue, but mixed with your favorite chocolate syrup or blended with nut butter in a smoothie, it provides an unparalleled creamy texture that will keep you full for hours. It contains 2 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein per cup.
Keen One Quinoa
If you're looking for a whole-grain side dish that is filling and flavorful, then check out these KeenOne quinoa cups. These fiber-rich cups come in a variety of flavors like Thai Coconut Curry, Chipotle, and Garden Medley, to name a few. The Thai Coconut Curry has a fragrant and spicy flavor along with 10 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber, and sweet pieces of pineapple to provide balance with the spicy curry seasoning. And then there's the Chipotle cup which is chock full of 10 grams of fiber and 11 grams of protein with a rich, smoky flavor, black beans and corn to provide texture, and antioxidant nutrition.
Mala Girl Broths
Warm your soul and soothe your gut with these fragrant and delicious broths from Mala girl. Just place a packet of your chosen broth in the strainer, steep for about one minute in a mug of hot water, and you have yourself a comforting dose of flavor and antioxidants. My favorite is the "Soulfull Classic" broth that combines the flavors of chicken soup broth without the chicken, but with a dash of lemon and Mediterranean flavor. Other flavors include the spicy chai blend of "Mystic Maca," the brain boosting blend of "Mushroom Brainiac," and the energy boosting "Miracle Moringa."
Salivation Brownies
If you love chocolate, but are trying to lower your sugar intake, then Salivation Brownies has what you need. These low-carb, gluten-free brownies are made from a base of natural ingredients like cocoa powder, almond flour, and avocado oil and natural low-sugar sweeteners like allulose, erythritol, and monk fruit. These delicious treats come in flavors like Walnut Chocolate Chip Brownie, Dark Chocolate Brownie, and Macadamia Nut Brownie. The crumby texture and deep cocoa flavor is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Walden Farms Dressings
If you enjoy a creamy dressing on your salad, but are trying to reduce your calorie intake or just can't tolerate cream or milk, then Walden Farms dressings are for you. These light and creamy dressings come in popular flavors like Thousand Island, Honey Dijon, Ranch, and Raspberry Vinaigrette, to name a few. And the tangy flavor and silky mouthfeel enhance the flavor of any salad or veggie dish without adding any significant amount of calories, gluten, sugar, dairy, or fat.
GoodSam Macadamia Nuts
These tender, yet crunchy nuts not only taste great, but support a great cause. These vegan, organic, and gluten-free macadamia nuts from GoodSam come in raw and roasted with a bit of salt. And GoodSam uses direct trade to allow them to work directly with farmers in multiple countries so they can be an ally for small farms and support the farmers' use of regenerative, organic, and sustainable farming practices.
